treading water

so i'm done--done ladyfest for the year. this year was tough and now i can only dream of a day when i have a community arts JOB...laughing? i know--just a dream.

but now i must play catch-up since i've missed dozens of good friends' birthdays, missed my opportunity to tour with the band (which will continue with me missing our show at pop montreal this week...shucks) and have not returned phone calls, emails, done laundry, grocery shopped, paid bills, et cetera.

i'm taking a much needed staycation. here is my obnoxious list of activities for that week:

change banjo strings
go see the Toronto Free Gallery's exhibit "Power to the People"
buy new sewing machine
lunches with rosanna and sof and _____ and ________ and _______
antique market
seriously ponder the possibility of either a viola or a mandolin or to save my fucking money
listen to all my roommate's American Primitive CDs and bask in my obsession with gospel
montreal for the amazing rebelles ???
i need a haircut--DESPERATELY!
it's embarassing that i haven't seen dream of life yet

this will grow over the next couple of weeks.

;alkdfj
don't knwo why ihave to work
don't know why i can't play
turn me off, turn me out
but don't turn me awaaaaaay
oh, fleetwood mac

it started the whole world laughing

i spent most of my weekend watching this dvd (i.e. 4 or 5 times)

most don't know that mimi and alan from low are devout mormons (at least i didn't know until a friend told me recently). i was shocked when i found out but it makes such sense once you search for the religious undertones when listening to their music.

alan does most of the talking in the film and gets pretty personal about his drug addition and how that coincides with being a mormon.

while i have so many problems with religion, it was actually quite nice to see the balance the two of them are living between their religious lives and that of a highly respected musical career (oh, and being parents, being in other bands, etc.)

the colors, the acoustic covers, the retribution gospel choir rehearsal while mimi cooks--you must watch this dvd!
